White weddings

Thursday, July 20, 2017

White weddings are back in vogue this season alongside romantic pastel colours .

White enhances all things Victoriana in style and is a good choice to enhance a  lace theme,or wedding gown. Lace can be further enhanced by careful choice of flower with varied textures, babies breath, or waxflower shown above have both become popular choices. Care must always be taken to add just enough green relief in the design to ensure that the bouquet looks frothy and romantic ,enhancing the whole bridal theme but does not become invisible in all important photos when held against white dresses or tablecloths . When textures are skillfully combined the overall effect is a truly elegant affair

Winter weddings are getting more popular and roses are always a popular choice . Large headed  high quality massed roses of one hue , are  elegant while  red and white combined  give an ever dramatic bold statement for brides that really want to make a dramatic entrance !

barn weddings

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

Barn weddings have always been a bit of a feature here in the Henley area where we have such a profusion of traditional  bridal venues .Over the years we have created lots of rustic arrangements to  provide colour and light  to these lovely old spaces .Sunflowers are always a popular summer choice .Here a design of sunflowers , peonies and ever romantic tousled ivy  spill romantically over an aged oak barrel welcoming guests as  they arrive to the prospect of an amazing day ahead  .

white-gdn wedding flower trends 2016

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Our brides here in Henley are still firmly in love with the wild flower look .At white-gdn we will help you choose just the right flowers to achieve your individual interpretation .We will make sure your  flowers will be romantically tousled to perfection for the special day . So far this year  we are finding that there is a drift back towards pastels this year , purple seems especially popular .The other strong trend is the bright wild meadow flower look which combines a wealth of different flowers of vibrant colours interspersed with cooler colours and varied textures .

Eyecatching pedestals

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Pedestals help to focus attention at a venue and are often used to frame an altar during a wedding service ,or to soften a large entrance .They can be simple or bold .The white-gdn pedestal design shown above from our summer season,  is given extra elegance and strength by the use of a column .I often advise the use of column pedestals as their classic style fit most traditional venues .They work especially well  with bold forms and were simply made for luxuriant and romantic cascading  foliage .

romantic lace

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Recently there has been a bit of a revival in the use of gypsopila in bouquets, either as traditional filler for romantic effect, or massed to good effect .This is further enhanced by using beautiful lace on the stems for a romantic feminine effect .These delicate flowers often also known as babies breath also come in a delicate pink which is often used as a contrast for bridesmaids .

Floral arches

Thursday, September 18, 2014

Floral arches can be a lovely way of framing a wedding photo. My thanks to Claire and Nic for sharing this picture taken of their wedding arch that we provided for their wedding in late July. Of course as it always a pleasure, when designing these structures to have a church entrance that is so beautiful. This church  also featured  as a location in the vicar of Dibley.

Country themed wedding flowers

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Henley brides  still seem to  love simple jam jar containers such as these above, to match rustic themes that can be carried through to all the floral pieces to enhance the  overall  feeling of rural, romantic loveliness.
For some of my brides there is no limit to the range of containers they wish to provide for me to turn into containers. The wellie boot shown here was used with its other half to adorn pew ends in a recent church wedding of a country loving couple.
